Welcome to The Fountain in Madison WI

The Fountain is a family-operated restaurant and bar located at 122 State Street in downtown Madison. We are Wisconsin themed and committed to comfortable atmosphere and hospitality. We're here to serve those from near and far with some of the best food and drinks at which you can wave a copy of A Sand County Almanac. The original 1910 oak and mahogany bar at The Fountain was rescued from its original demolition-threatened Beaver Dam location. It was transported and reassembled at its new home in Madison in 2011. The bar was built by the Brunswick Corporation in Dubuque, Iowa, at the time the largest manufacturer of saloon bars worldwide. Thousands were made, perhaps 150 survive including the one here at The Fountain.

Lunch and Dinner Served

We use local meats, dairy and produce concentrating our menu to reflect products from Wisconsin and aim to provide our customers a higher standard of quality and flavor. Lunch served from 11-4 with daily specials.

Dinner specials are always offered alongside the menu and USDA prime steak burgers are offered all day. “There’s a new burger in town!”

Drinks at The Fountain of Madison

We offer 30 Wisconsin beers, Ale Asylum Big Slick Stout and Lakefront Brewery’s Riverwest Stein Amber Lager on tap along with many others. Rail mixers are premium liquors and are $2.75 all day, every day. [Drink Menu]
